Sand Printer (In Progress)

An idea for a machine that prints images using dyed sand.

Starting with a the design for a machine called the "4xiDraw" (it's an open source AxiDraw), I created an idea for what a sand printer could look like. The goal was to print bitmap images using dyed sand by placing the sand in a very precise way while dithering the printed image to 12 colors. In the end, the machine did not end up producing images using colored sand, but I hope to return to this concept another day.
